I have been a member of the Guias de Mexico since I was 6, so being selected as a volunteer at Our Cabana 13 years later was a dream come true for me.
Working here at the Cabana I learnt a lot about my new friends that I made, about WAGGGS and I got to practice my English! I was able to develop my potential and my creativity working in the Program Team, by planning service projects and activities. My experience here helped me to grow in all aspects of life because I increased my leadership skills.
Since being a volunteer here in Summer 2009, I have been given a lot more opportunities to be more involved in Guiding in my country. In January 2010 I was able to attend the 15th Central American Gathering as part of the Mexican Delegation.
This experience helped me to be someone who is happy when making others happy.

Two months at Our Cabaña! Two wonderful months! To come from a cold Sweden and enter to the calm, safe and beautiful area of Our Cabaña was amazing and it only got better.
During my time at Our Cabaña I have been doing so many different things. I celebrated Christmas, had a New Year event with many kind girls, took part in a leadership seminar, met the Committee and Friends of Our Cabaña, spent a weekend with ladies from Japan and of course the exciting Butterfly event.
During my time at Our Cabaña I have met people from all over the world. I have learnt about WAGGGS, Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting and the best thing of all, I have new friends for life! I have explored Mexico, tasting the food and the sweets, smelling the flowers, seeing the mountains and the sea, hearing the mariachi bands and feeling the salsa in my feet.
I have met young and old Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from all over the world, all with their own different experiences and lives. I have explored a lot and I am really, really thankful and very happy that I got the opportunity to stay as a volunteer at Our Cabaña.
I really recommend you to apply if you would like to have a good memory for your whole life.

at I had expected! The people are just lovely and friendly. I will always remember the great laughs and song everywhere we went.
The Cabaña as a set of buildings is well equipped for its cause. The location of the Cabaña is lovely in Cuernavaca (by the way, I have fallen in love with this city). I would definitely recommend my group in Lebanon to come here to sessions or to volunteer, because they would return back home full of guiding experience and lifelong memories.
I have never had so much fun while preparing a program. I can say that I have definitely more thorough knowledge in how to work with guides of different ages and from different countries, and how to challenge myself.
