Our Cabaña: statement about security

19 December 2011

Reports of violence in Mexico, indicate that most incidents are situated in the North of the country and in and around the border areas between Mexico and the United states, so not effecting Our Cabana. Events nearer to Cuernavaca where we are located have not affected us or any of our visitors to date and we remain open to participants, guests and visitors.   We are providing on going advice on personal and group safety whilst travelling in Mexico

We continue to place the highest priority on the health, safety and  security of all guests to Our Cabana.  We are operating a full and active programme, developed and delivered by our International Career staff, some of whom have extensive knowledge of Cuernavaca and the surrounding areas.  Full caution and attention is applied to reduce any known risk to our guests and we are well acquainted with all the communities we visit as part of the programme.

We encourage visitors to check advice from their government and Member Organization regarding travel to Mexico and to Cuernavaca. We will keep visitors informed of any changes to the local circumstances, travel advice and the events at Our Cabana.

Transportation Advice

We encourage visitors to Our Cabana to liaise directly with us and to use formal and reputable transport company’s to plan their journey, e.g. Pullman coaches and the authorised taxi service available inside the airport.  Our Cabana are happy to organise taxis for guests while on site and advise which companies to use.

We advise that you do not check your money in a public space or in the full view of others. Please be advised not to travel with high value items as it may place you at greater risk.

Please remain cautious whilst travelling and we strongly advise that you do not surrender your ID or passport but request they should remain in your personal care.

Please be aware that walking night is not advisable due to the general lack of walkways for pedestrians and we strongly advise you to only walk short distances and as part of a group.  Other from this we would strongly advise the use of taxis.
