Thursday 3rd

Today was the first day of this exciting event. People from Costa Rica, Canada, Netherlands Antilles, Peru and USA gathered at Our Cabaña. During the afternoon we got to know each other by playing some icebreakers and then we all had the tour of the grounds to discover all the secret places of this World Centre.
We shared dinner altogether in the big dining hall and after dinner we had an activity that allowed us to learn the rules of Our Cabaña.

Friday 4th

In the morning, we learned about Mexican traditions and we made guacamole.  We also did cool crafts in the craft house.
The best part of the day was the World Centers Scavenger Hunt.  At the end, the only thing that really mattered was to be the first dorm to all jump in the pool fully clothed!
After dinner, we had ANOTHER scavenger hunt about the history of Our Cabana and then had a quiz on it.

We had an awesome day!

Saturday 5th

Today we had the chance to take part in a very special service project. We collaborated with Habitat for humanity in the construction of a house for a Mexican family. We spent the morning in the community Santa Rosa where we dug the foundation of this house. We also have the chance to wonder around and see how the people live and interact.

In the afternoon we had time to relax by the pool or in the craft house and in the evening a Mexican teacher came to show us the basic steps of Salsa.

It was a wonderful day and we are very excited about what is going to happen tomorrow.

Sunday 6th

On Sunday morning, after breakfast, we left around 9 for Tepotzlan. It’s an open air market that sells local crafts and food. There was even an ice cream parlor. In the market place we were able to shop for clothing, jewelry, instruments and many other things. We arrived back at the Cabana and we had lunch as well as some free time.

Afterwards, we competed in the Olympic Games. Teams were awarded medals for winning the most games and having the most team spirit. After dinner, we participated in the World in our Hands ceremony, which brought tears to people’s eyes. The World in our Hands ceremony consisted of statistics and images about hunger and malnutrition. It made us realize what is really happening in certain areas around the world. Overall, it was a good day and a great experience for us all!

Monday 7th

After the group photo we divided to have workshops about the new project of WAGGGS girls worldwide say. In the afternoon we have optional activities and some of us decide to walk to the local pyramids and other went to downtown Cuernavaca.
In the evening we all gather around the fire to enjoy the campfire “Sparks of Friendship”.

Tuesday 8th

It was raining when we got up this morning but that didn’t stop us to go shopping to the Colonial style city and silver capital of Mexico “Taxco”. It was a wonderful day where we had the chance to explore thousand of silver stores and learn more about Mexico and its culture. In the evening we all met in Mixcoacalli to try our vocal skill in the Karaoke night.

Wednesday 9th

This morning we visited the archeological site Xochicalco where we saw the beautiful pyramid of Quetzalcoatl and the observatory. The leaders went for lunch to the top ten restaurant  “Las Mañanitas”.
In the afternoon we had an activity called “Our Rights, Our Responsibilities” where we learned about ourselves and the responsibilities that we have we those that surround us.

In the evening we had our international night and each group presented something from their country: songs, dances and skits. We also have a special action to fundraise money for the scholarship fund.

Thursday 10th

Today 80 kids from the Ansam organization came to Our Cabaña to enjoy a morning of games, songs and other activities with all of. They rotated through the different station and learn more about their rights and responsibilities.
In the afternoon we played free games with them and after they left we had time to prepare ourselves for the Mexican Fiesta.
