Our World Centre

Our Cabaña is one of the four world centres owned by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. Each centre offers a unique Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting experience, influenced by the culture of the country and the international composition of our staff members. These two influences blend at Our Cabaña to produce a program that is unique to Mexico, unique to Our Cabaña, and unique to the time of your visit.

The Chief’s door, through which all visitors pass, is only the start of the experience of being at Our Cabaña. Behind this impressive blue door are five acres of gardens, many buildings and special places where friendships can begin and flourish. Our Cabaña opened in July 1957 and since that date has welcomed over 70,000 Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world.

I was thrilled and honoured to be part of the Canadian National Trop to Our Cabana this summer. It was an experience beyond compare and one that I won´t soon forget. From the hugs we got as we got of the bus to all the staff and volunteers everything exceeded my expectations.
The program work and service project were phenomenal, the out trips were great though lots of ups and down and have puctures galore to fill my scrapbook.
Thank you Mapi and everyone at Our Cabana for everything.

I visited Our Cabana in August of 1994. I have fond memories of my time there. I enjoyed the company of many Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from all over the world. Additionally, I participated in a community service project that built new houses for those in need. All these years later, I am still moved by that experience.

I went to Our Cabana during July 2010 for the 100 years of friendship celebration as a part of a Girl Scout destination. I had an amazing time experiencing Mexico and meeting other guides and scouts from around the world. It was an experience that I will carry with me lifelong. I will never forget the friends I made and the good times I had there!

My first time out of the country was in 1986 just after the terrible Mexico City earthquake. We raised money to help rebuild a village outside the city and then spent the rest of our time at Nuestra Cabana. My world opened up in those days--suddenly I had friends from Colombia, Peru, Canada. I was speaking French to communicate with my Spanish speaking friends since it was our common language. As an adult, I have lived and worked with charities in three countries and have now settled in the UK where my daughters are in Girl Guides (Rainbows and Brownies). I can only hope they will be changed the way I was. Thank you so much. Muchos gracias.
